I am Chef Angela Valencia and I teach hands-on Cooking Classes in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Many People ask Why "Tinta De Toro" for the business name? It’s all about the love of food and wine. A few years back I had tried my first Tinta De Toro wine from Spain. I then started to research the foods and cultures of Spain, since that is part of my heritage. It was at that moment that I understood the connection of food and wine. How a wine could be good on it's own, but phenominal when paired with the right foods. It was that first meal that changed everything for me.
It is the love of food and passion for cooking that brings us to today. I have spent many years in different culinary arenas. I realized early on that being a Pastry Chef is a "dying art" and that many places I worked, you needed to make much more than dessert if you wanted a job. With that knowlege, I started working in other areas of the kitchens, handling sandwich and salad areas, creating meat and cheese platters and various other non-pastry related items. I also had the opportunity to work in a butcher shop for a time. That was one of the best work experienced of my life. I not only worked with a great bunch of people, I also learned a tremendous amount of techniques and recipes that I am now able to pass along.
I enjoy sharing what I have learned in the professional and home kitchens. I also take cooking classes when I travel and bring what I learned back to you. I create these hands-on cooking classes for all age and ability ranges. I want everyone to learn the skills and techniques necessary to cook or bake for themselves. Most of all, I want people to leave with the confidence to be successful in the kitchen and know that when it's "Made with Love" it shows.
